Forced Migrations in Asia

More than 30 million climate migrants in Asia in 2010, report finds

This article shows that we are dealing with changes in the environment that are in fact showing signs of occurring. Millions of people in Asia have migrated from their homes due to bad weather conditions and flooding. Many people refuse to believe that these changes of happening or that they will happens so far in the future that it won't affect us. These people are gradually being forced to move out of of their homes because of these changes. Low lying areas are the most at risk, such as islands. New Orleans was a good example of how not just developing countries are at risk. When the levies were built to keep New Orleans from being flooded I'm sure that none of the engineers who designed it had imagined there would be a storm that would hit it strong enough to break the levies. the damages caused by these storms and climate changes such as erosion and desertification are projected to cost roughly four hundred billion dollars. The government in Asia has been warned that changes in policy need to be applied because the weather and climate is just going to get worse. I believe this should show all of us that we cant just ignore the climate change issue and hope that it goes away. It is here already and people are already suffering from it. This doesn't mean that all of us need to go out and spend a lot of money on all the latest devices that claim to be green and the most efficient. But it is time to start choosing more environmentally friendly items. for instance, getting more environmentally friendly lights. These may be small things, but they will add up over time.
